What a wonderfully perfect time I had at The Attic's 2012 Sampler Symposium! It has always been a dream of mine to visit this sampler oasis in the desert, so when Jean invited me to present a workshop there, I couldn't email my RSPV fast enough.
For those of you who have never had the pleasure of being there in person, here is a glimpse of what the shop looks like…
Tracy Riffle of Hands to Work fell in love with this one, by Midsummer Night's Designs…
Everywhere you look, you can find samplers with their Attic silk conversions next to them…
I love the details around the shop…
This is My Handworke, stitched by Jean on 45 count!
Half of The Scarlett House's Hannah Tingey, up close (one of my favorites)…
More samplers…
This one is by Threads of Gold…
This was the shop's gorgeous collection of sampler books, right behind a rack of Scarlet Letter charts…
And there was the most beautiful collection of fibers, everywhere one looked! To the east…
To the west…
The the south…
And to the north…
Another sweet design by The Scarlett House (this is Maddie Button)…
Here's another look at Sarah Munday, pictured above…
And still more samplers…
Here's a very small fraction of The Attic's gorgeous moulding selection…
I'll close with a photo of a sweet little bird, but I'll be back tomorrow with more photos from the shop and the Symposium. I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour so far!
I'm off to stitch my guts out now. 😉

Ahem. This is a very very dangerous post. You need to put up warnings asap. lol! Ok, so where’s the shot of the whole sampler of Sarah Munday? I love the verse on it — I need it! But then I need a whole bunch of the samplers I saw in this post. like I said. Dangerous post……

I haven’t had any stitching mojo in a month and by golly I think you’ve pushed me into a flying needle fit. I do have one question…The sampler with the “naked” mermaid – who’s the designer of THAT? That’s something the, ahem, boyfriend would like, I’m afraid. 🙂
Amazing post, Paulette. Thank you for sharing, and looking forward to part 2!
Brenda

What a beautiful shop! Who stitched all of those models? It makes my little shop look rather quaint! I’m glad you had such a great time there. Wow. I’m not envious…….
Lynn Jones
I had heard about the shop from some friends who visited it but had no idea of the extent of samplers within. Absolutely amazing!! And all that floss….. this must be heaven! Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us. I’ve spotted some samplers that I’ve added to my wish list. Your photos of the models show the gorgeous colours off so well. I’m liking that Midsummer Night Design one but I think my favourite is Elizabeth Barrat.

Thank you so much for the fantastic tour of the Attic – how wonderful it must be to have shops like that to visit. Even our small shops are closing down.
