The College World Series (and other shenanigans)

I don't know much about baseball teams. I know how to play baseball (one of my favorite things to do is play catch with a glove on), and I swoon over like how baseball uniforms look, but as far as following who is playing, who is winning, or who is using HGH, I'm pretty much clueless. Despite that, I do enjoy attending one game during the CWS. It doesn't have to be any game in particular, but I do like to go for the excitement of it all.

This year was the first year it wasn't at Rosenblatt Stadium, which was bittersweet for people in general. I loved the nostalgia of Rosenblatt.. it was fun looking around at all the young fans, wearing their favorite teams' jerseys and ballcaps, probably dreaming of some day playing there. The new stadium – TD Ameritrade Park – is an impressive, state-of-the-art arena. But the smalltown feel is gone.

So it's out with the old, and in with the bold!

This is one of Mike's good friends and partner-in-reducing-crime, J-Mart…

And he's the one who took this picture:

These are a few of the merchandise stands, just across the street from the stadium…

    Hi, Joonie!

    Tp 6

Mike and Bre are huge Texas fans, so it was a sad day when the Longhorns were eliminated. Here they are, paying their respects under the burnt orange banner…

    Tp 7

This is the first thing I saw upon entering the stadium:

What I loved about TD Ameritrade is that no matter where you stood, you got a fantastic view of the field… (this was just to the right of that Gluten-Free stand)

    Tp 9

    Go, orange dudes!

    Tp 10

    Go, guys in yellow!

    Tp 11

Breanna is usually embarrassed by my sports ignorance. But since she worries that I really will yell, "GO ORANGE DUDES!" she chooses not to make fun of me. Wise girl.

    Tp 12

Sophie's just here for the Dippin' Dots.

    Tp 14

After the game, it was time for the usual Stewart tradition of Mike spending way too much money on souvenirs for the girls.

I have no idea who won the game, btw.

    Tp 15

Sabrina wasn't feeling very well, so she didn't come to the game with us… we missed you, Bean!

    Tp 16

On our way back to the parking garage, we passed the Qwest Center, where we stopped to look at all of the unusual art in front of the Qwest's entrance…

    Tp 17

    Yes, Mike, I see you…

    Tp 22

    Tp 19

    Tp 23

(Is it just me, or is someone really yelling, "Over here! Look at me!")

    Tp 18

    Tp 20

Okay, we should probably go before this gets ugly…

    Tp 24

It must be a boy thing. Check out the kids to the right.

I miss Rosenblatt, where the seats are painted blue, the tail-gaters are the friendliest you'll find, and the sculptures are too high to reach.
